Mar 20, 2009: Free Accounts are Back!

The WunderCounter actually started out as a free counter service. Since then, it has grown into a service which does far more than power web counters. Keeping this in mind and considering that finances may be tight for many people, it seems like a good time to return to the roots of the WunderCounter. Free accounts will allow users to create free visible counters for sites like Myspace, LiveJournal, Blogger.com, eBay and, of course, commercial and personal web sites. Log files and other analytics are not included with the free accounts, but it's enough to get you started and, if you're on a tight budget or even just insist on a service which requires no payment, this may be the package for you.

Sep 19, 2008: Major Tracking Upgrades

Thousands of lines of code were updated today. The WunderCounter is currently made up of 30,000+ lines of code and a significant portion of that was overhauled today. Among the highlights:

On/Off Switch for IP and Domain Blocking (Premium):
You are now able to maintain lists of IPs and domains to block (as before), but you may now switch blocking for IPs on and off without removing the IPs from your list. The same is true for domains. This makes for easier testing of your site and the convenience of being able to take advantage of filters with less copy/pasting.

Improved Session Control (Premium):
Session Control now gives you the option to use cookies. Previously cookies were used by default. Some users feel cookies raise privacy issues, so you may now choose to enable or disable them when tracking user sessions. If you're not concerned about WunderCounter cookies, you should enable this option for your sessions. If you want to fly as far under the radar as possible, you should disable cookies. Cookies will be disabled by default.

New Payment Options:
You now have the option of making payments every 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, regardless of your method of payment or account type. This gives you greater flexibility in choosing a method and period of payment which suits you best.

New Hardware:
An additional database server has been added to the rack, speeding page rendering significantly.

Database Optimization:
By optimizing database queries and adding new indices, WunderCounter report rendering is now even faster.

Mar 10, 2008: Expanded Directory Listings

The WunderCounter Client Directory has now been expanded. The directory is no longer restricted to e-commerce listings. Both Premium and Invisible account holders may now list their sites and edit the content in real time. All listings are automatically approved -- there is no longer any manual approval process.

Mar 6, 2008: New Myspace Trackers Come Online

The new WunderCounter Myspace Tracker code now allows you to put trackers into the headline of your personal page. This means that if your Myspace profile page is set to private, the tracker will also record page views by users who are not on your friends list and who are unable to view your full profile page.
